From dm session spc11

This session was presented by a consultant who does much the same work that i do. He has a great personality and i pitied him because the crowd that he had was not engaged.

Here's some of the info he shared with us:
- 1 in 6 projects overrun their budget 200% and schedule by 70%

Thinks to make deployments sucessful
- don't try to boil the ocean, break work into discrete chunks
- resist scope changes
- assemble right team

AIIM stats about project failure
- not enough education about solution
- poorly defined requirements
- lack of mangement support

Here are some questions that his company asks people:
What type of information are you trying to manage?
What processes support that content?
Who are the people who are affected?
What are the systems that are used?

One thing that i think was important was the point he made about success: he suggested that planning for success and a high demand after the first project is extremely sucessful. Here are some things that How to deal with the demand?
Governance model
Microsoft is having the tools created
Ecm project triage
Plan for sucess
